Gigafactory Malaysia Sdn Bhd (GMSB) has obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification for battery production.
The certification covers GMSB’s battery production operations at its Suria Industrial Park facility in Sepang and is valid from Sept 30, 2026 to Sept 29, 2029.
GMSB, a wholly owned subsidiary of NanoMalaysia Bhd (NMB) Group, operates a 15,000 sq ft battery manufacturing facility with an initial annual production capacity of about 1 MWh, equivalent to roughly 92,000 cells a year.
The certification formalises quality management processes covering production consistency, quality assurance, continuous improvement and customer requirements as the company moves from technology development into commercial manufacturing.
GMSB is currently producing and industrialising locally developed graphene-enhanced lithium-ion battery technology, while also supporting production validation, customer qualification and future capacity expansion.
NMB Chief Executive Officer Prof. (Adj.) Dr Rezal Khairi Ahmad said internationally recognised quality management practices were important as Malaysian-developed battery technologies move from research and development into production.
