The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will expand their cooperation on enforcement and corruption prevention, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to detect and manage risks of abuse of power and misconduct.
The two agencies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today to strengthen coordination in enforcement, investigations, digital technology, information management and corruption prevention.
Under the agreement, MCMC and MACC will share expertise and best practices in governance, integrity and risk management, while developing training, knowledge-sharing and capacity-building programmes.
The agencies will also explore the use of technologies including AI to identify, prevent and manage corruption and abuse-of-power risks in a more systematic manner.
The cooperation could also be extended to industry players and other relevant stakeholders, according to MCMC.
The agencies said the expanded collaboration would help strengthen their readiness in dealing with increasingly complex corruption and misconduct risks in the digital environment while supporting greater accountability in public service delivery.
The MoU was exchanged at MCMC’s headquarters in Cyberjaya between MCMC chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din and MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman.
