Korean, Malaysian Defence Firms Sign MOUs At Kuala Lumpur Business Meet

Korean and Malaysian defence companies signed cooperation memoranda of understanding after a business matching programme in Kuala Lumpur aimed at expanding cross-border industry ties.

The 2026 Gyeongnam Defence SMEs Business Meeting brought together 10 defence SMEs from South Korea’s Gyeongsangnam-do province with Malaysian defence companies and business partners for one-on-one discussions.

The Korean companies represented specialised areas including fighter aircraft structural design, aircraft engine turbine blades, satellite image sensors and armoured vehicle components.

The Gyeongnam Regional Office of South Korea’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Korea Defence Industry Association and BNK Gyeongnam Bank organised the programme.

Organisers said the business meetings generated commercial discussions and cooperation-related MOUs between participating companies from both countries.

Nine students from Changwon National University’s Department of International Trade also joined the sessions, gaining exposure to cross-border business discussions with Malaysian industry representatives.

The meeting forms part of efforts to develop longer-term industrial cooperation between South Korean and Malaysian defence companies.
