Mah Sing Group Bhd has engaged Kinergy Advancement Bhd to assess captive power and renewable energy supply options for its proposed data centre developments in Selangor and Johor.
The collaboration, entered into through Mah Sing’s wholly-owned subsidiary Garden Vista Development Sdn Bhd, covers proposed developments at Southville City in Bangi and Meridin East in Pasir Gudang.
Under the non-binding and non-exclusive term sheet, Kinergy will provide technical and commercial input on potential captive power plant solutions and power supply arrangements under the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS).
The assessment may cover projected electricity demand, technology and plant sizing, site suitability, regulatory requirements and potential project structures.
Mah Sing said the exercise is aimed at determining suitable power infrastructure for its data centre pipeline, where reliable and scalable electricity supply is a key development requirement.
Mah Sing founder and Group Managing Director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum said early planning of power infrastructure would help improve project readiness and scalability.
Kinergy Executive Deputy Chairman and Group Managing Director Dato’ Dr Lai Keng Onn said captive power could provide additional capacity and flexibility alongside conventional grid supply, while supporting renewable energy integration.
Mah Sing’s digital infrastructure pipeline currently includes Mah Sing DC Hub @ Southville City, Meridin East in Pasir Gudang and MS Industrial Park @ Kulai.
