Market Breadth Turns Positive As Gainers Outpace Losers

The stock market breadth turned positive at the close of the trading session on Oct 2, with 585 gainers outpacing 541 losers as buying interest strengthened across selected counters.

Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd led the gainers, jumping RM1.28, or about 3.1%, to RM42.40. UWC Bhd rose 47 sen, or 6.6%, to RM7.57, while ViTrox Corporation Bhd gained 46 sen, or 4.6%, to RM10.46.

United Plantations Bhd advanced 42 sen to RM31.38, while UMS Integration Ltd added 38 sen to RM9.03.

On the losing end, Nestlé (M) Bhd fell 48 sen to RM89.52, while Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd shed 42 sen to RM21.

Enra Group Bhd plunged 25.5 sen, or about 26%, to 72.5 sen, while Allianz Malaysia Bhd and Hong Leong Bank Bhd each lost 20 sen to RM20.80 and RM22.64 respectively.

Overall turnover rose to 4.23 billion shares worth RM2.7 billion compared to 3.1 billion shares valued at RM2.7 billion on Oct 1.
