The Kuala Lumpur Seni & STEM Festival 2026 (KLSSF 2026) was officially launched on Friday, bringing three days of arts, cultural heritage and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) activities to the KLCC Esplanade from Oct 2 to 4.
Presented by Petrosains and Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP), the festival runs from 10 am to 10 pm daily, with free admission for visitors.
The launch was officiated by Tourism Malaysia Deputy Director-General (Promotions II) Samuel Lee Thai Hung, who said the festival brings together arts, heritage and STEM while showcasing Malaysia’s cultural diversity and innovation.
Throughout the three-day event, visitors can participate in interactive STEM and artificial intelligence activities, live science shows, robotics engagements and hands-on learning sessions. At the Petrosains booth, activities include Animation Station, AI Music, AI Deviation and Colour Sequence, offering opportunities to explore technology through practical experiences.
Beyond science and technology, the festival features Malaysian cultural performances and workshops, including Borneo dance, Cantonese opera, wayang kulit, urumee melum, boria, caklempong and sape performances. Visitors can also take part in dikir barat and wau sobek-making workshops, highlighting the country’s artistic traditions.
The programme also includes live performances by local artists such as APLHA, Wani Kayrie, Mimi Fly, Hussain and Amir Masdi, alongside Permata Seni Koir and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra Quartet.
Petrosains chief executive officer Ezarisma Azni Mohamad said the festival places greater emphasis on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, giving visitors opportunities to explore their applications through accessible, interactive activities. Meanwhile, DFP chief executive officer Siti Azlina Abdul Latif said the collaboration demonstrates how arts and science can complement each other, with cultural performances helping to foster appreciation for Malaysia’s heritage.
The festival returns following its inaugural edition in 2025, which attracted nearly 50,000 visitors over three days. This year’s programme continues until Oct 4 at the KLCC Esplanade, with activities open to the public from 10 am to 10 pm daily.
