Pakatan Harapan (PH) is expected to announce its candidates for the upcoming Melaka state election within the next one to two weeks, as the coalition moves into the final stage of preparations and continues discussions over possible electoral cooperation.
PH election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the coalition’s election machinery had been mobilised for about two months, with meetings and coordination among campaign teams already underway.
“The machinery has already moved and is ready. What remains is the question of alignment and understanding, as well as announcing the candidates,” he said after attending the launch of the Tuaian Anak Harapan TAWAS programme on Saturday.
Amirudin said PH remained open to discussions with other political parties over possible arrangements ahead of the state election but was also prepared to contest based on its existing strength and agreements.
Asked about the possibility of cooperation with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), he said the matter was still being considered and could become clearer within the next week or two. He described the current political landscape as fluid, with parties continuing negotiations to determine their respective electoral arrangements.
PH Melaka has already completed seat allocations among its component parties at the state level, although the final arrangement is subject to discussions involving the coalition’s Presidential Council, state leadership and Amirudin as election director.
No date has been given for the election by the EC till now.
