IJM Corp Appoints KPMG’s Datuk Johan Idris As New Chairman

IJM Corporation Berhad has announced the appointment of Datuk Johan bin Idris as Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Board.

Datuk Johan’s appointment follows the Board leadership transition arising from the retirement of Tan Sri Dato’ Krishnan Tan at IJM’s 42nd Annual General Meeting on 27 August 2026.

Datuk Lee Teck Yuen assumed the Chairmanship at the time, providing continuity in Board leadership while the Board continued its succession process and consideration of the longer-term Chairmanship. This has culminated in the appointment of Datuk Johan as Independent Non-Executive Chairman. Datuk TY Lee is redesignated as a Non-Executive Director and will continue to contribute his extensive experience and deep knowledge of the Group.

Datuk Johan brings over 34 years of experience in finance, audit and strategic advisory. He was Managing Partner and Country Senior Partner of KPMG Malaysia from 2014 to 2024, having previously served as its Head of Audit and an Audit Partner. He was also President of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants from 2013 to 2015 and an Executive Member of Bank Negara Malaysia’s Financial Stability Executive Committee from 2016 to 2018.

He currently serves as Chairman of Maxis Berhad and Non-Executive Chairman of KPMG Malaysia, and is a director of KLCC Property Holdings Berhad and KLCC Real Estate Investment Trust.

Dato’ Lee Chun Fai, Group CEO & Managing Director of IJM, said: “We welcome Datuk Johan to the IJM Board and as our new Chairman. His extensive experience in corporate leadership, governance and financial oversight will bring valuable perspectives to the Board as we continue to execute the Group’s strategic priorities.
