Miu Miu is looking at everyday clothes differently for Spring/Summer 2027. Under Miuccia Prada, the collection brings sportswear, tailoring, vintage denim and evening pieces into the same wardrobe, with familiar garments altered through layering, lacing and reconstruction.
The starting point is the contrast between casual and formal dressing. Sportswear and knitwear are paired with tailored suits, chemisiers and embroidered evening dresses. Instead of keeping these categories separate, the collection puts them together and lets the differences show.
Several pieces are changed through simple construction details. Crossed lacing replaces traditional fastenings on denim, pleated skirts, cocktail dresses and shoes. The lacing also allows some pieces to be adjusted and reshaped on the body.
Materials are treated in a similarly practical way. Suede is laminated with wax, then deliberately cracked and creased. The effect gives new pieces a worn appearance rather than a pristine finish.
The collection also revisits some of Miu Miu’s earlier design references. Geometric prints return, alongside details drawn from wider popular culture. Other pieces take elements from sportswear and eveningwear and move them into unfamiliar settings.
A few of the combinations are deliberately simple. Jersey performance pieces are reduced to abbreviated tops that can be worn over or under other garments. Silk bows are worn on their own against bare skin. Embroidered details appear on pieces shaped like sportswear.
Denim is another focus. Miu Miu Upcycled has partnered with Wrangler to rework vintage jeans from the late 20th century. The original styles are sourced through vintage specialists and reconstructed with the collection’s crossed-lacing detail. The collaboration continues Miu Miu’s use of existing garments as the starting point for new designs.
The sportswear element extends to footwear. For the fifth year of their collaboration, New Balance and Miu Miu have reworked the RC150 racing sneaker. The original shoe was known for its lightweight 150-gram construction. The new version uses technical mesh, external loops and loosely tied laces. Colours range from muted shades to brighter sports-inspired combinations.
The show’s setting also connects to the idea of revisiting existing work. Its scenography will provide the physical setting for Geste de Consolation (Gesture of Consolation), an interdisciplinary project by French filmmaker Alice Diop that will be presented as part of Art Basel Paris 2026.
The Spring/Summer 2027 cast includes Jamie Bell, Olivia Colman, Emma Corrin, Gigi Hadid, Louisa Jacobson, Noah Jupe, Chandler Kinney, Katherine Waterston and Liu Wen, among others.
Rather than separating casual and formal dressing, Miu Miu uses the collection to mix the two. The result is a wardrobe built around familiar pieces, but with their usual roles changed.
