Dewan Rakyat To Focus On Sick Projects, P. Ramlee Copyright

Strengthening contractor selection and performance assessment to address delays in government projects and ‘sick projects’ will be among the key issues raised in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah (Langkawi) will ask the Works Minister about measures to address weaknesses in contractors’ management and financial capabilities, as well as new mechanisms to be introduced.

The proposed Parental Care Bill will also be raised, with Rodiyah Sapiee (Batang Sadong) seeking an update on its status and the proposed social protection measures for senior citizens amid Malaysia’s ageing population.

Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (Port Dickson) is also scheduled to ask the Education Minister about preparations to accommodate the expected simultaneous increase in six- and seven-year-old children entering Year One for the 2027 school session.

Meanwhile, Onn Abu Bakar (PH-Batu Pahat) will ask the Communications Minister about efforts to acquire or repurchase ownership, copyright and management rights to films by the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee for preservation as national heritage assets.

Following the oral question-and-answer session, the Dewan Rakyat is scheduled to debate a motion on the Auditor-General’s Report (LKAN) 2/2026 and proceed with the second reading of the Food (Amendment) Bill 2026.

The Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament began last Monday and is scheduled to run for 37 days until Dec 8.
