STI Falls 1.22% At Open As Singapore Stocks Slide

Singapore shares opened lower on Thursday, with the Straits Times Index (STI) falling 68.69 points or 1.22% to 5,539.75 as banking counters came under pressure.

As at 9:04am, 69 stocks had advanced while 89 declined, with 73.10 million shares worth S$217.76 million changing hands.

DBS Group Holdings was among the early decliners, falling S$1.80 or 2.32% to S$75.69. OCBC Bank slipped to S$29.77 while United Overseas Bank (UOB) fell to S$41.41.

Other major counters also traded lower, with YZJ Shipbuilding SGD at S$5.15, Singtel at S$4.31, SGX at S$21.12 and ST Engineering at S$10.97.

In the REIT segment, CapitaLand Ascendas REIT gained S$0.01 or 0.45% to S$2.22, while CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust rose to S$2.29.

Keppel DC REIT stood at S$2.18, Mapletree Industrial Trust at S$1.89 and Suntec REIT at S$1.35.

In derivatives, FTSE China A50 Index Futures for October 2026 stood at 13,834 points as at 8:47am, while Nikkei 225 Index Futures for December 2026 were at 49,465 points.

SGX FTSE Taiwan Index Futures for October 2026 stood at 4,353.50 points and FTSE China H50 Index Futures were at 15,275 points.
