Bursa Malaysia Up Marginally At Midday As Investors Await Budget 2027

Bursa Malaysia extended its gains at midday on Oct 9, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rising 6.08 points as buying interest in selected heavyweight stocks lifted the market ahead of the tabling of Budget 2027.

At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI gained 6.08 points, or 0.38%, to 1,607.09 from the previous day’s closing of 1,601.01, supported by consumer products and services, telecommunications and media, and industrial products and services counters.

The benchmark index traded between 1,600.55 and 1,609.94 during the morning session.

The broader indices also advance, with the FBM 70 climbing 114.79 points, or 0.65%, to 17,651.86, outperforming the benchmark index. The FBM Emas advanced 52.87 points, or 0.44%, to 12,082.63, while the FBM Shariah rose 65.50 points, or 0.54%, to 12,125.33. The F4GBM added 4.20 points, or 0.43%, to 978.39.

Market breadth was marginally positive too, with 478 gainers against 469 decliners, while 502 counters remained unchanged, 1,379 untraded and 13 suspended.

MI Technovation Bhd led the gainers, surging 62 sen to RM6.70, followed by United Plantations Bhd, which jumped 52 sen to RM30.92. Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd advanced 32 sen to RM43.82, while Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd rose 18 sen to RM20.72. Nestlé (M) Bhd gained 16 sen to RM89.60.

On the losing end, Petronas Gas Bhd recorded the steepest decline, falling 38 sen to RM17.42, followed by Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd, which slipped 18 sen to RM20.46.

Genting Plantations Bhd shed 16 sen to RM5.58, Allianz Malaysia Bhd declined 12 sen to RM20.04, while FCW Holdings Bhd eased 11 sen to RM1.70.

Meanwhile, Zetrix AI Bhd emerged as the most actively traded counter, with 172.9 million shares changing hands as its share price rose half a sen to eight sen. Dagang NeXchange Bhd followed with 86.23 million shares traded, slipping half a sen to 52 sen, while Xidelang Holdings Ltd remained unchanged at half a sen on volume of 42.11 million shares.

Top Glove Corporation Bhd declined three sen to 84.5 sen, with 38.92 million shares traded, while VS Industry Bhd gained half a sen to 33.5 sen on turnover of 38.87 million shares.

Trading volume stood at 2.03 billion shares valued at RM1.34 billion.

Investors remained focused on the tabling of Budget 2027 by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at 3.30pm, with attention on fiscal measures, economic growth initiatives and sector-specific allocations.
