Allianz Malaysia Berhad (Allianz Malaysia) and Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd today announced a strategic partnership with Tesco Malaysia becoming the first supermarket chain in the country to offer insurance products online. Through this partnership, Allianz Malaysia’s products will be available on Tesco Malaysia’s website.

Through the partnership, Allianz Malaysia’s Motor Comprehensive, Travel Care, Smart Home Cover and Enhanced Road Warrior (ERW) products will be available on supermarket’s website www.tesco.com.my. The deal will also see Allianz develop specialty products exclusively for Tesco customers in the near future.

“As a retailer that wants to serve our customers a little better every day, we are always looking for ways to provide convenience to our customers. Through our partnership with Allianz, we’re delighted to be able to offer our 3.5 million Tesco Clubcard customers the opportunity to purchase insurance coverage to fit their needs, at their fingertips,” said Paul Ritchie, Chief Executive Officer of Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

The four insurance products were selected based on Tesco’s customer segments core value of convenience, simplicity, and value. Motor Comprehensive offers coverage for your vehicle against liabilities to third parties for death or bodily injuries, damages to third parties’ properties, accidental or fire damages to your car and theft of your car; Enhanced Road Warrior is a personal accident coverage that also offers 24-hour comprehensive roadside assistance and services; Smart Home Cover is the first customisable home insurance product that provides optional coverage against wear-and-tear, tenant damage and
mortgage loan installments; and Allianz Travel Care provides travellers with a peace of mind by providing protection against personal accident, medical expenses and travel inconveniences.

Tesco Clubcard members will also be able to earn points for their online insurance purchase, with double points awarded for purchases made during the launch period from
2 May to 2 June 2019.

In conjunction with the launch, there will be roadshows held at selected Tesco stores at Kepong (2-5 May), Ampang (10-12 May), Penang (17-19 May), Tanjung Pinang (24-26 May), and Melaka (31 May-2 June). The roadshows are being held to inform customers about Tesco and Allianz’s partnership. There will also be an Allianz Explorer event truck equipped with LCD TV and pop out stage that will be positioned outdoors at each store during the roadshows as well as various activities such as Virtual Reality Games, BMI Health Check, Roadshow sign challenge, and free gifts.
