Cyberjaya Implementation Council to facilitate next phase of Cyberjaya revitalisation plans

Plans to revitalise Cyberjaya took centre stage at the Cyberjaya Implementation Council meeting yesterday, following the government’s aim to strategically place the city at an advantageous position within the space of technology and innovation. Chaired by the Chief Secretary to the Government, Mohd Zuki Ali, the council is tasked with advisory and facilitating roles across matters that involve decision-making for Cyberjaya’s development.

Part of a holistic way forward for Cyberjaya is a newly proposed Masterplan that will create a unique positioning for the city as a preferred tech investment location. The plan will see 6,960 acres of the city land area divided into four distinct zones; each with unique features and attributes to further enhance its offerings and opportunities. The new masterplan incorporates both the original intent for the city and its current role in accelerating Malaysia’s competitive advantage with the inclusion of emerging technologies.

The Chief Secretary to the Government, who is also the Chairman of Cyberview Sdn Bhd opened the meeting with an address to his commitment in continuously developing a thriving technology ecosystem as part of the plan to revitalise Cyberjaya.

“Interconnectivity is imperative in the evolution of people, businesses, and cities. Sharing of resources and interactions between various stakeholders will enable cities to grow and transform. In today’s digital world, cities need a strong tech ecosystem to develop as well as attract investors. Within our own jurisdictions, each member of the Council has a part to play in strengthening the tech ecosystem here and revitalise Cyberjaya – and I’m looking forward to working with everyone towards this goal,” said Zuki Ali.

The Cyberjaya Implementation Council will gather regularly to ensure strategies and plans to revitalise Cyberjaya will be executed effectively. Council members will also decide on the way forward for issues pertaining to economy, social, safety, infrastructure, and matters relevant to Cyberjaya’s development.
