Amazon Southeast Asia Online Seller Summit set to empower SMEs in Malaysia

Amazon Global Selling is holding its first inaugural Amazon Southeast Asia Online Seller Summit to empower local SMEs in expanding their global footprint despite the competitive commerce market in Malaysia.

With the theme “Go Global, Sell on Amazon”, the Seller Summit provides long-term educational support through its online seller education series, Seller University to help seller grow their sales in Amazon stores, worldwide through various tools and services available.

Notably, the Summit is supported by the Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), industry partners, and sellers from Malaysia, garnering over 1,000 registrations in total. 

“Our government agencies such as the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation actively encourages SMEs to leverage on e-commerce websites to reach out to a wider spectrum of consumers worldwide. We are glad to see Amazon having its first virtual seller summit in Malaysia.

We hope local SMEs capitalise on this opportunity by digitising and internationalising the uniqueness and desirability of Malaysian brands to the global audience,” said Mohamed Azmin Ali, Senior Minister of Economy and Minister of International Trade and Industry in his opening speech.

Through this virtual seller summit, we hope to support Malaysian sellers to tap into their potential and promote the future of Malaysia products via Amazon’s online stores. We have seen cross-border e-commerce continues to grow in the past year,” said Bernard Tay, Head of Amazon Global Selling in Southeast Asia.

Amazon has a strong global business presence with over 300+ million active reaches. This network will enable sellers to expand fast in Amazon market within the comfort and safety of their homes. Additionally, Amazon also resources the Seller forum for seller community to receive first hand guidance among their fellowship to leverage the community across Southeast Asia.

Connie Tan, Founder of Glittery Craft who, expanded her party decoration business by turning to Amazon, shares, “I had no prior experience in e-commerce, but in just one year, my total sales increased by 400 percent with customers from as far as Chile. With Amazon, I can confidently say that I’ve fulfilled my dream of having my own successful global business.”
