Q4 2020 Sees Vivo As Top Smartphone Vendor In Malaysia and SEA Market

Technology company, vivo has achieved the top smartphone vendor position in Malaysia and South East Asia (SEA) market in Q4 2020 based on the latest report by Canalys.

Vivo recorded a 25 percent of unit share with four percent annual growth and 21 percent of unit share, respectively.

The company’s success in the vendor position is a result of its efforts to constantly offer smartphones within low-to-mid range prices in SEA.

“In 2021, vivo will build on last year’s achievements and tailor its user-oriented innovation strategies according to evolving consumer preferences, striving to achieve breakthroughs across four long-term strategic tracks: photography, system, design, and performance,” Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of vivo Malaysia, Mike Xu said.

The company also announced a long-term strategic partnership with ZEISS to strengthen its leadership in the smartphone industry.

As for 5G, vivo has filed over 2,000 patents for 5G innovations and been manufacturing products that are ready for the next generation of connectivity by the end of 2020.

These developments were brought to life by a strong R&D network across nine innovation centres and supported by research teams across the globe.

Last year, Vivo entered new official markets in six countries – France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

The company has also obtained a partnership with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship.
