Berjaya Corporation Berhad (BCorp) has appointed Abdul Jalil Abdul Rasheed as the new Group Chief Executive Officer of BCorp, effective today (March 16). The former President and Group CEO of Permodalan Nasional Berhad brings with him 18 years of investment and business leadership.
The appointment also comes together with the promotion and re-designation of Robin Tan as Executive Deputy Chairman of BCorp.
Jalil Rasheed will be working together with BCorp Executive Chairman, Vincent Tan and the Executive Deputy Chairman as an Executive Committee in all strategic decision making and planning of the Group’s future business direction.
“I’m delighted to be joining BCorp as Group CEO, after several months of discussion with Vincent Tan. We both agree that the Group is very undervalued and has many good assets that can be optimised and realised to enhance value for shareholders,” Jalil said.
“With Jalil’s extensive experience and network in the investment field, we will also be able to improve our investor relations and corporate communications role with the business and investing community and this will enhance shareholder value for all our shareholders,” Robin said.
Executive Chairman, Vincent Tan said it’s time to streamline the way the company is managed, to relook at the Group’s various businesses and to make sure going forward that the company is future proofed to meet the challenges of any external shocks.
