Members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are considering to issue a digital coronavirus vaccine certificate as all member countries are looking to revive tourism activities in the region.
There are a few important things that needs to be refined by ASEAN members, said Senior Minister cum International Trade and Industry Minister (MITI) Mohamed Azmin Ali.
He stated that a consensus is needed to create the digital vaccine certificate and the process will consider the type of vaccines received in each country, as some ASEAN countries use different vaccines.
“Our suggestion in the meeting was that the health authorities of each country must discuss and agree on this matter as soon as possible.
“Each health authorities in ASEAN country needs to recognize and agree on what vaccine should be allowed,” Azmin said
Azmin said that he believes this matter has received considerable attention and he hopes the process will be expedited.
The certificate is expected to help Malaysia re-open a lot more sectors especially the tourism sector and facilitate movement between ASEAN countries.
