SOLS Foundation Offers Free Solar Training With Guaranteed Jobs For Malaysian Youth

SOLS Foundation has opened applications for the latest intake of its Solar Academy programme, offering young Malaysians a fully sponsored pathway into the renewable energy sector with guaranteed employment upon graduation.

The April 2026 intake provides participants with accommodation, meals, a living allowance, one year of training and five industry certifications at no cost, as Malaysia accelerates rooftop solar adoption under the Solar ATAP initiative.

The programme aims to address growing demand for skilled workers in the clean energy sector as more solar projects move from planning to implementation nationwide.

Since its launch in 2017, more than 870 participants have graduated from Solar Academy, which combines technical training, practical exposure and apprenticeship-based learning to prepare participants for employment opportunities.

Managing Director of SOLS Foundation, Danutcha Catriona Singh, said the programme has enabled many young Malaysians without clear career pathways to secure stable jobs and income opportunities.

The academy has also received support from corporate sponsors over the years. Since 2022, UOB has funded three consecutive cohorts, contributing to outcomes that included 128 graduates, an 85% employment rate and income growth of up to 90% among participants.

While focused on supporting the solar industry, the programme also provides training in solar installation, electrical wiring, maintenance, EV charger installation, sales, digital skills, English and employability skills, broadening career opportunities for graduates.

Applications are open to Malaysian citizens aged between 18 and 30 from households earning below RM5,000 a month. Participants must be willing to commit to a year of structured training and possess basic literacy and numeracy skills.

SOLS Foundation said 30 places remain available for the current intake and encouraged more women to apply as part of efforts to promote greater participation in green careers and the clean energy workforce.
