Affordable housing developer Lagenda Properties Berhad has recently provided critical care medical equipment valued at almost RM1 million to Covid-19 centric hospitals in the states of Perak and Kedah.
“We have township developments in Perak and Kedah, and have observed that cases are escalating in both states, with 60% of new cases detected through close contact screening. Cases are seen both in towns and rural areas, across these states.
“It is also more rampant amongst the B40 segment. With multiple generations living in one household, they struggle to cope with the risk of infections. This contributes to their worsening economic condition, in addition to job loss and rising unemployment.
“Their plight has influenced us to extend our assistance where needed. We reached out to hospitals in Teluk Intan and Sungai Petani, who face real difficulties in coping with escalating infections, as they battle day in and day out for the recovery and wellbeing of our people,” said Dato’ Jimmy Doh, Managing Director of Lagenda Properties.
Since then, Lagenda Properties has provided close to RM1 million worth of medical equipment to Hospital Teluk Intan in Perak and Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim Sungai Petani in Kedah. It includes intensive care unit (ICU) beds, patient monitors, syringe pumps, drip stands, suction regulators, vital sign monitors, ventilators, ECG, defibrillators, ultrasound machines, tissue embedding units as well as infant incubators and infant warmers.
Of the RM1 million, Lagenda provided RM500,000 worth of critical care medical equipment to Hospital Teluk Intan.
The remaining sum of RM480,000 in critical care medical equipment has been provided to Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim, Sungai Petani which is timely in present challenging conditions. Daily new cases in Kedah stand at 660 as of September 27, with 62.6% of eligible residents having received their first dose.
