Genting Malaysia Denies Involvement In Forest City Casino Rumour

Genting Malaysia has denied the highly speculative rumour surrounding the possible of a second casino in Forest City, Johor and that it will be the main organisation that has been identified to operate it.

In statement, the group said its Chairman and CEO Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay was never involved in the so called meeting for the opening of casino in that area.

This comes after news report circulation on social media platforms have implicated the Genting Malaysia Group CEO as being involved in the secret meeting together with other high profile tycoons.

Just this week, alleged news surfaced that Berjaya Corp Chairman, Tan Sri Vincent Tan had meetings with certain parties for a casino project in Forest City, however, the businessman claimed the news was untrue. This also led to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim commenting that no such thing and has called on all those who have been named in the news report which appeared in New York to take legal action.

Malaysia has been careful on matters relating to gambling, being a Islamic nation the government is very aware on the sensitivity of such activities and have said in the past it will not permit any license for casino’s.
