The Selangor State Government has decided to abolish the use of scratch parking coupons in stages starting January 3 next year. The local government EXCO said the abolition would be replaced with eKupons through the Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) application which can be downloaded through Apps Store or Google Play Store. “Individuals who still have a stock of paper parking coupons can still use them until March 31 next year. This means that from April 1, all parking payment transactions in the state will make full use of digital methods, ”said Ng Sze Han. Sze Han explained the State Government would think of a new mechanism if there were still members of the public unable to clear the paper coupons after March next year. For those who do not have a smartphone or online banking, they can opt to buy SSP eCoupons at convenience stores such as 99Speedmart or 7Eleven. “I hope that the abolition and early notification can help the smooth transition process from the use of paper coupons to SSP eCoupons. These are overaching steps the State is undertaking to transform into a more digital driven state and at the same time find the use of paper as not sustinable.
