KDEBWM Expands Waste Management Service Into Johor

In efforts to expand its successful waste management service from Selangor, KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) has taken over the management of private waste company Sitamas Environmental System Sdn Bhd in Johor, to offer its solutions in the state.

Its managing director said the acquisition of 100 percent stake had cost the firm RM9 million but gave KDEBWM a footprint in Johor and a new responsibility to manage the industrial waste of 1,300 factories. Ramli Mohd Tahir explained that the purchase was finalised and was seen as an effort to resolve the issue of dumping and dumping illegal garbage in the state. “The acquisition of a company that has been operating for more than 20 years will complete the solid waste management cycle, especially industrial, commercial and institutional waste’ said Ramli.

Currently, the firm manages domestic and bulk waste collection at 600 factories around Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor and will further expand its services in other areas.

KDEBWM only took over the management of domestic waste collection in all local authorities in Selangor in January 2020.
