The Malaysian Rubber Gloves Manufacturers Association has come out with a statement on the latest announcement made by MITI Minister Dato Seri Azmin Ali, that Top Glove had made a loss RM3.6 billion due to US-imposed WRO (withhold release order)
During a question session in Parliament, the Minister quoting MARGMA had said that the Malaysian glovemaker suffered extensively from the glove ban imposed by the US Customs And Border Protection Agency, accusing the company of labour abuse and mistreatment.
However, since the declaration by Azmin, Margma said that would like to provide clarifications that the sum RM3.6 billion is an estimated loss in potential glove export revenue due to WRO issue and not an actual financial loss of any single company. It also said that the sum of the estimated loss in potential glove export revenue was a cumulative sum made on a few affected companies, and based on various assumptions.
The media had instead picked up on the figures and had published news accordingly.
