Bursa Closed Cautiously Higher Dovetailed Asian Equities Surged

Kuala Lumpur, Mar 16 –Bursa Malaysia closed higher on Wednesday amid cautiously thin trading volume. All major Asian equities markets ended in positive territory as a result of the surge in the Chinese equities, with rising hopes that Beijing will roll out more macroeconomic stimulus Hong Kong’s HSI rose to 20,000 level lifted by tech index and after the announcement that Beijing allowed companies’ shares to be listed in foreign exchanges. Meanwhile investors’ mood remains cautious as they continue to monitor Ukraine-Russia peace talks and the interest rate announcement to be made by the U.S. Federal Reserve.

** Bursa Malaysia ended higher on Wednesday, the FTSE BM KLCI rose 13.91 or  0.89% at 1,571.32.

** The FTSE BM KLCI opened at 1,554.25 . The index fluctuated between 1,554.26 –  1,567.85.

** 732 counters are gainers,  378 counters are unchanged, while 263 counters are losers.

** Total volume of 2,593,425,700 shares changed hands; while Turnover of RM2,711,359,925.

** The Top 5 Gainers : MPI (31.56, +1.78) ; HEIM (21.70, +1.04) ; PMBTECH (16.84, +0.56) ; PMBTECH-WA (13.58, +0.50); BURSA (6.87, +0.48)

** The Top 5 Losers : NESTLE (135.00, -1.00) ; HSI-HMZ (1.56, -0.79) ; HSI-HM7 (0.525, -0.515) ; HSI-HM3 (1.15, -0.48) ; HSI- HM2 (0.555, -0.415)

** The Top 5 Most Active Stocks : DNEX (1.00, +0.08) ; HSI-CQW (0.335, +0.145) ; BSLCORP (0.21, -0.005) ; HSI-CQ2 (0.21, +0.09) ; WIDAD (0.34, UNCANGED)

** Singapore’s Straits Times Index (STI) rose 58.99 points  or  +1.82% to 3,295.03 ; Hong Kong’s HSI spiked 1,672.42 points or +9.08% at 20,087.50;  Japan’s Nikkei 225 up 415.53 or 1.64% at 25,762.01 ; and Korea’s KOSPI rose 37.70 points or 1.44% to 2,659.23 ;  Shanghai’s SSE Index advanced 106.75 points or 3.48% at 3,170.71 ; Australia’s All Ordinaries up 79.70 or 1.08% to 7,345.80
