AIBIM Committed to Assisting Customers and Community in Transition to the Endemic Phase

Association of Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions (AIBIM) and its members remain committed and proactive in assisting and providing ongoing support to their customers to weather the challenges since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic until now. It is one of the steps and efforts to support recovery the country’s economy is in transition to an endemic phase.

As of December 2021, Islamic banking institutions have approved financial assistance not less than RM980 billion in various forms including, deferment financing, reduction of monthly financing payments and restructuring financing to bank customers (regardless of whether personal or through businesses) affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as well as flood. In addition, an estimated RM1.3 billion has been channeled through contributions to corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and other assistance by members of AIBIM.

This assistance has benefited a total of 2.7 million customers. This clearly shows that AIBIM members are sensitive in carrying out their responsibilities and play an important role in achieving the objectives of economic recovery country.

Customers who face financial difficulties need to contact the bank to obtain appropriate advice and assistance. Or, customers can also seek advice and assistance further from the Credit Counseling and Management Agency (AKPK) and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).
