KLCI Ended in Cautiously Positive Note , Asian Equities Traded Mixed with STI Best Performing

Kuala Lumpur, Mar 24 –Bursa Malaysia closed in a cautiously positive ending. There was mild selling activities which tracked the overnight Wall Street market and regional markets. FBM KLCI is anticipated to trend sideways around in the near term, with a mild bullish bias. Generally most of the Asian markets closed mixed on Thursday as U.S. President Joe Biden sought to persuade European leaders to impose more sanctions on Russia, while the Fed’s hawkish stand kept global markets under pressure. Among Asia’s equity markets, Singapore’s STI jumped almost 1% to their highest in four weeks after the city-state further relaxing of COVID-19 curbs for fully vaccinated visitors. Some of good performing shares of SGX were Singapore Airlines, ComfortDelGro Corp and Genting Singapore.

** Bursa Malaysia ended marginally higher on Thursday, the FTSE BM KLCI moved up 1.09 points  or  0.07% at 1,598.97

** The FTSE BM KLCI opened at 1,595.85. The index fluctuated between 1,593.53 –  1,601.16.

** 482 counters are gainers,  434 counters are unchanged, while 429 counters are losers.

** Total volume of 2,707,136,100 shares changed hands; while Turnover of RM 2,144,796,580 .

** The Top 5 Gainers :CARLSBG (22.18, +0.72); NESTLE (136.00 +0.60) ; PMBTECH (17.86, +0.58) ; HEIM (22.90, +0.54) ; PMBTECH-WA (14.50, +0.48)

** The Top 5 Losers : MPI (37.58, -0.42) ; BKAWAN (26.12, -0.20) ; PMBTECH-LA (17.80, -0.20) ; ATTA-WC (0.15, -0.15) ; SAB (3.95, -0.14)

** The Top 5 Most Active Stocks : CSH (0.145, -0.02) ; LKL (0.075, -0.005) ; SIAB (0.235, +0.02) ; HSI-HM2 (0.215, UNCHANGED) ; PASUKGB (0.025, +0.005)

** Singapore’s Straits Times Index (STI) rose 33.40 points  or  +0.99% to 3,397.66; Hong Kong’s HSI Index shed 207.13 points or -0.94% at 21,945.95;  Japan’s Nikkei 225 up 70.23 points or 0.25% at 28,110.39; and Korea’s KOSPI dropped 5.39 points or -0.20% to 2,729.66;  Shanghai’s SSE Index dropped 20.77 points or -0.63% at 3,250.26; Australia’s All Ordinaries rose 4 points or 0.052% to 7,669.00
