Pertama Digital Berhad has announced the appointment of Tun Dato’ Seri Zaki Bin Tun Azmi as Chairman of the Board effective 30 May 2022.
Tun Zaki, who served as Independent Non-Executive Director of Pertama Digital since 21 April 2020, succeeds Datuk Dr. Kenny Ng Bee Ken in a leadership nomination aimed at steering the company further as it launches new businesses in line with its projected growth in this sector.
“I am proud to be given the responsibility and confidence of the Board to lead the company and look forward to taking a hands-on approach with the management as we create solutions for the benefit of the Rakyat. We will be thoughtful and innovative as we chart new grounds for the financial benefit of our shareholders and the digital advancement of Malaysia and the Rakyat” said Tun Zaki.
Commenting on his tenure at the company, Datuk Kenny Ng said, “I thank the Board of Pertama Digital for the opportunity to lead the company thus far. As a responsible and transparent, governance-based Board, changes such as these are necessary to inject new direction for the success of the company. I know that Tun Zaki has the necessary drive and caliber to lead the company to even greater heights”.
Tun Zaki, formerly the 12th Chief Justice of Malaya was responsible for the successful restructuring of the Malaysian judiciary and contributes to corporate Malaysia through his Chairmanship on Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad as well as previously having served on the boards of Petronas and several other listed companies including Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad and SP Setia Berhad. He is also the Chancellor of both Multimedia University and MAHSA University as well as the Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia.
Director of Strategy of Pertama Digital, Encik Saify Akhtar added, “I have had the honor of being under the mentorship and guidance of both Tun Zaki and Datuk Kenny Ng and I look forward to delivering more impactful products to the Rakyat under new charge of Tun Zaki.”
Pertama Digital an active vendor to the government, is championing a new model of government digitalisation that aims to reduce the financial burden on the public. It has introduced several govtech and fintech initiatives to the government.
