Biden Waives Solar Panel Tariffs for Malaysia and 3 Other Countries

U.S. President Biden declared a 24-month tariff exemption for solar panels manufactured in Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

The White House said the President invoked the Defense Production Act to spur US solar panel manufacturing and exempted tariffs on solar panels from four Southeast Asian nations for two years as part of his push for clean energy.

The statement said that “the tariff waiver applies to panels from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam and will serve as a “bridge” while US manufacturing ramps up.”

This will bode well for the solar industry and help boost export for Malaysian players.
