General Tan Sri Zulkifeli Appointed Chairman Of CyberSecurity Malaysia

Former Commander of the Malaysian Armed Forces Gen (R) Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin was appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of CyberSecurity Malaysia with effect from July 1.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said Zulkifeli’s appointment was to replace Gen (R) Tan Sri Mohd Azumi Mohamad who retired on June 30.

“He has more than 44 years of experience in the field of defense and military services and held various important positions in the Malaysian Armed Forces,” he said in a statement today.

Annuar said he was confident that, through his extensive experience and expertise in various portfolios, Zulkifeli’s appointment to the position was timely and in line with the direction of the country which is charting its journey towards digitization to achieve digital and competitive economic status.

“Hopefully this appointment will continue to drive CyberSecurity Malaysia to a more outstanding level,” he said.

Zulkifeli once held the position as the 23rd Chief of the Army on 21 May 2010 and was subsequently appointed as the 18th Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces on 15 June 2011 before retiring on 14 June 2017.

Annuar said his significant contribution in the field of security was recognized when he was appointed as the first Director General of the National Security Council (MKN) in August 2016 to June 2018.

He said Zulkifeli was also the main driver of the implementation of the National Security Policy 2017, the drafting of the National Security Council Act 2016 and was fully involved in the formation of the National Cyber ​​Security Agency (NASCA).
