Asian Stocks Closed Higher in Capped Gains

Kuala Lumpur, Aug 3 – Bursa Malaysia closed in negative territory on Wednesday day as the barometer index FBM KLCI ceded 4.48 points or -0.30% to 1,490.57. The KLCI is expected to whipsaw around 1,500 point level pending for fresh new leads. Meanwhile, in the Asian region most of the stock markets closed in mildly positive note in a cautious mood and the dollar pared early gains as market participants contemplated the potential negative repercussion from U.S. House Speaker Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan. US Labor Department has released the latest figures on employers posted 10.7 million jobs in June, down from 11.3 million the previous month but still a relatively high figure. Whilst, job openings, which never exceeded 8 million in a month before last year, had topped 11 million every month from December through May before dipping in June. It is worth mentioning that some weak data on the U.S. economy has added to suggestions the peak in inflation may be tapeing but also indicates the risk of a recession is heightened.
