Asian Stocks Rebound

Kuala Lumpur, Sep 27 (Tuesday) – Bursa Malaysia closed lower today with the main index FBM KLCI shed 2.17 points or -0.15% to 1,410.87.

Overnight performance of US markets saw the S&P 500 slid 1.03% to 3,655.04, a new closing low for 2022. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 329.60 points, or 1.11%, to 29,260.81. Whilst The Nasdaq shed 0.6% to 10,802.92.

Most of the stock markets in Asia ended in green after sharp falls yesterday, as investors eyed for bargain-hunting opportunities. Shanghai stock market popped with the SSE advanced 1.40% to 3,093.86. The SSE index was buoyed by healthcare, education and consumer non-cyclical stocks.

Whilst Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index (HSI) closed almost flat, directionless.

** The FTSE BM KLCI opened at 1,412.86. The index fluctuated between 1,411.56 – 1,420.27

** 427 counters are gainers, 406 counters are unchanged, while 392 counters are losers.

** Total volume of 2,283,306,500 shares changed hands; while Turnover of RM 1,923,292,055

** The Top 5 Gainers: NESTLE (130.00, +2.20); PPB (16.46, +0.54); HAPSENG (6.40, +0.50); HEIM (23.78, +0.40); PANAMY (23.20, +0.38)

** The Top 5 Losers: DLADY (30.52, -1.68); F&N (21.56, -0.74); HLBANK (20.26, -0.32) ; KESM (6.72, -0.26); BKAWAN (19.88, -0.20)

** The Top 5 Active : PTRB (0.37, +0.01); TOPGLOV (0.61, -0.025); CSH (0.035, +0.005); HSI-CJO (0.155, -0.01); CNERGEN (1.12, +0.10)

* Singapore’s Straits Times Index (STI) dopped 10.93 points or -0.34% to 3,171.04 ; Hong Kong’s HSI up 5.17 points or +0.029% at 17,860.31; Japan’s Nikkei 225 Index advanced 140.32 points or +0.53% at 26,571.87; Shanghai’s SSE Index climbed 42.96 points or +1.4% at 3,093.86; Korea’s KOSPI Index up 2.92 points or +0.13% at 2,223.86; Australia S&P/ASX 200 Index rose 26.80 points or +0.41% at 6,496.20.
