Menteri Besar Officiates Smart City, Digital Economy Convention At SIBS 2022

The Selangor state government through the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) launched its seventh edition of the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) today (October 6) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Part of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2022, the theme of SDEC 2022 is “Sustainable Digitalisation Towards a Net-Zero Future”.

The convention was officiated by Dato’ Menteri Besar of Selangor, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on the first day of the convention via the Asian Smart City Conference: Mayors Summit.

SDEC 2022 is a 4-day packed convention with two main tracks – namely the Smart City Track and Digital Economy Track. The Smart City Track comprises the Asian Smart City Conference, Net Zero & Circular Economy Forum, and Tech Exhibition. While the Digital Economy Track comprises the Selangor SME Digitalisation Conference, Selangor Fashion Accelerator (Demo Day), Livestream Festival, and Tech Exhibition.

Asian Smart City Conference: Mayors Summit

It is one of the biggest conferences that Sidec has ever planned for – gathering mayors and representatives from different cities around the world to share their knowledge, experiences, and approaches to resolving city liveability challenges through smart technologies.

During the same opening ceremony, the attendees also witnessed the launch of Selangor Digital School (SDS) to solve the shortage of digital talents in Selangor as the State pushes forward toward digitalisation. SDS is a co- creation project that symbolises the collaboration of the central government, state government, private investors, venture capital funds, and startups through Penjana Capital, Sidec, The Hive, EZT Group, and DMC.

There were a total of 11 participating cities from Taiwan, Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, Australia, and the Netherlands who are taking part in the conference.
