Mie Sedaap Saga Continues With More Recall In Singapore, Cause Identified

The pesticide-laced instant noodles Mie Sedaap that is being currently recalled from distribution in Singapore continue with more varieties added this time the Mie Sedaap Kari Spesial instant cup noodles and Korean Spicy Chicken instant cup noodles.

After 4 other versions were flagged as contaminated with ethylene oxide which is categorised as a pesticide was found in batches expiring in March 2023 the instant cup noodles have also traces of the chemical after the Singapore Food Authority conducted tests on the items.

SFA has said that after testing, the agency has found the traces to be in the chili powder, the Indonesian manufacturer PT Wings Surya is said to be working with manufacturers in recalling the Mie Sedaap instant noodles with the chili powder and is working to rectify the cause of the ethylene oxide contamination in its products.

Singapore has advised customers not to purchase or consume the products.
