Selangor Surpasses Revenue Targets For 3rd Time Reaching RM2.1 Billion From Jan To Oct

Selangor has recorded approximately RM2.102 billion in revenue for the first 10 months of this year, surpassing its initial target of RM2.05 billion set early this year.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said this is the third consecutive time the state government has surpassed its revenue target.

“Alhamdulillah, as of yesterday (October 17). Selangor recorded a revenue of RM2.102 billion, surpassing its target of RM2.05 billion in 2022.

“This is the third time in a row Selangor has managed to surpass its revenue target. This was accomplished through strong teamwork and prudent economic management. Syukur Alhamdulillah,” he said in a Facebook post.

Last year, the Selangor government collected RM2.23 billion in revenue, surpassing the initial target of RM2.2 billion.

However, this year’s target was lowered to RM2.05 billion due to the prolonged Covid-19 pandemic that beganin March 2020.

Selangor remains the largest contributor to Malaysia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with RM343.5 billion in revenue last year.

According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, the revenue increased by RM16.4 billion from RM327.1 billion in 2020.

Selangor leads five other states and territories, namely Kuala Lumpur, Sarawak, Johor, Penang and Sabah, that contributed 72.2 per cent of the country’s GDP.
