TNB Is Ready To Face The Flood Season

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has made thorough preparations to face the possibility of a flood disaster in an effort to ensure orderly and effective electricity supply management and minimize installation damage in order to prioritize the safety of the public.

“As usual every time before the monsoon season, TNB conducts training after training so that employees are always in a state of readiness and understand their respective roles and responsibilities when there is a flood,” said TNB’s Chief Distribution Network Officer, Wan Nazmy Wan Mahmood.

“More than 2,500 people from the Distribution Network Division have been enlisted to be part of the Security Emergency Team that will be on duty 24 hours a day to carry out immediate work in areas affected by the disaster.”

Logistical assistance in locations that are often affected by floods has been completed including 296 mobile power sets, 227 small portable 5kW/2.5kW power sets, 279 trucks, 885 four-wheel drive vehicles, 38 boats and 108 floodlights.

According to Wan Nazmy, TNB works closely with the State and District Disaster Management Committees and will open operation rooms in flood-affected states to monitor the situation and channel the latest information on electricity supply.

The identified Temporary Placement Centers (PPS) were also inspected to ensure that the electricity supply was in good condition.

“In a flood situation, especially in flooded premises, people are advised to be careful when using electrical equipment and switches. Do not touch it with wet and damp hands as it may cause an electric shock.”

“After the flood recedes, a comprehensive inspection of the premises’ wiring must be done by a wiring contractor registered with the Energy Commission to ensure it is safe to use,” added Wan Nazmy.
