Prices For Entertainment Up 7.5% As Indicated By Rise In SPPI For Q3: DOSM

The Department of Statistics Malaysia has released the latest Services Producer Price Index for the third quarter of 2022, indicating an increase of 3.0 percent to 113.8 as compared to 110.5 in the same quarter of the preceding year.

DOSM said the increase in the index was mainly driven by Arts, Entertainment & Recreation (7.5%), Accommodation and Food & Beverage Service Activities (7.0%), Transportation (4.9%), and Education (1.1%), while Professional and Health subsectors increased 0.4 percent respectively followed by Real Estate Activities 0.3 percent.

However, the index for Information & Communication remained unchanged. For a quarter-on-quarter comparison, the SPPI rose by 1.7 percent. This increase was contributed by Arts, Entertainment & Recreation (4.3%), Transportation (4.1%), Accommodation and Food & Beverage Service Activities (2.5%), and Education (0.3%), while the index of Professional and Health subsectors, registered a marginal increase of 0.1 percent respectively.

Meanwhile, no changes were recorded for the index of Real Estate Activities and Information & Communication subsectors.
