NACCOL to Solve the Problem of Rising Cost of Living: Salahuddin

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living will immediately mobilize the National Cost of Living Action Council (NACCOL) to find a solution to the cost of living problem that plagues the people.

The minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said, as NACCOL’s secretary, he would immediately hold a meeting with the ministry’s Chief Secretary (KSU), Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof to discuss the matter.

“Things are not as usual,” said Salahuddin at his first press conference at the ministry after the handing over of the task note by former Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi to him here today.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim ordered NACCOL to analyze and investigate the implications of the subsidy within two weeks during the meeting on Nov 27.

Meanwhile, Salahuddin said that the change of name from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) to the current name of the ministry clearly indicates that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s priority is to reduce the pressure on the people’s livelihood.

Salahuddin said, he will commit to mobilizing all available expertise to meet the expectations of all Malaysians who want a solution to the increase in the price of goods and lack of food supply in the market in line with the Prime Minister’s big idea.

He said, the ministry will establish strategic cooperation with other ministries, especially the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security which is responsible for food production to optimize production and minimize production costs.
