Asian Bourses Track Positive Cue of Wall Street on Soft Consumer Prices

Kuala Lumpur, December 14 – Moving in tandem with regional peers, Bursa Malaysia ended in capped gains on Wednesday with the benchmark index FBM KLCI advanced 13.05 points or +0.89% at 1,483.17. The main index was buoyed by buying interest on selected heavyweights.

All Asian bourses closed higher after the newly-released inflation data in US, the consumer prices increased at a slower-than-expected pace. This has fueled anticipation of inflation had peaked and rate hikes will slow and eventually stop in 2023.

The Federal Reserve is widely expected to raise its benchmark rate a half-point, smaller than the past four hikes of three-quarters of a point.
