Air Selangor says the water supply was fully restored in about 80 percent of the areas which has been experiencing unscheduled water supply disruption since Christmas eve.
With full restoration to take place on 27 December, the drinking water management company under the Selangor State government said although supply is resuming the duration of the water supply recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the location and distance of consumers’ premises.
A total of 472 areas in Klang Valley had their water supply cut due to the detection of odour pollution at two water treatment plants, it was later determined that a perfume truck had spilled its load into a nearby river causing the odour.
The affected plants were the Sungai Semenyih and Bukit Tampoi water treatment plants after the incident took place at Jenderam Hilir Raw Water Pump Station.
