Ranhil Secures RM38.5 Million JKR Contract To Upgrade Water Pipes For The Navy

Ranhill’s indirect wholly-owned subsidiary, Ranhill Water Services Sdn Bhd had accepted a Letter of Award from Jabatan Kerja Raya Malaysia to upgrade the fresh water piping system for the Royal Navy.

The design and build project will be a the Royal Malaysian Navy Base in Lumut, Ranhill estimates the contract to be worth RM38.5 million. The Project is to be undertaken immediately with the date of site possession being 6 January 2023 and to be completed by 27 March 2025.

Ranhill said the project was secured through a competitive tender exercise undertaken by JKR through the tender documents in October 2022.

The contract work entails a design and builds basis with the major scope of works component consisting of the replacement of existing old pipes to mild steel pipes in sizes varying from 150 mm to 500 mm diameter with a total length of 61-km, construction of a new booster pumping station and refurbishment of existing reservoirs and ancillary equipment.

The main scope for the Project, amongst others, includes the following:

a) new Water Supply and Distribution System comprising 61-km of mild steel pipes of various sizes from 150 mm to 500 mm diameter (inclusive of accessories, pipes, valves, hydrants, fittings and testings);

b) provide basic non-revenue water (“NRW”) facilities i.e. establishment of district metered area (“DMA”), pressure management area (“PMA”), boundary valves, and to include water balance calculation;

c) establish geographic information systems (“GIS”) mapping for all water assets;

d) new pumping system inclusive of construction of new pumphouse;

e) install level electrode and pump control system in existing reservoirs; and

f) refurbishment of existing reservoirs.

Ranhill is also required to implement a Professional Training and Education for the Growing Entrepreneurs (PROTÉGÉ) programme, it will be recruiting a minimum of fifteen personnel under this programme throughout the implementation of the Project.
