Selangor Adding 2 More Public Hospitals

Selangor is looking to build two more hospitals in Kapar and Sepang to help overcome the issue of overcrowding in public facilities in the long term, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said he took note of the order of the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj who asked the Ministry of Health (KKM) to add more health facilities.

“Within a few more weeks, Cyberjaya Hospital will be fully completed. The federal government will also build a hospital in Kapar, Klang with a capacity of 300 beds.

“The construction of another hospital in Sepang has also been planned. This effort can reduce the pressure on existing hospitals in the state,” he said.

Amirudin said the state government through its subsidiary Selcare was only able to provide small health facilities such as Selcare clinics and Selcare pharmacies.

“Hospital construction is under the jurisdiction of the federal government, so we (Selcare) can only help the federal government as much as we can,” he said.

On February 9, Sultan Sharafuddin called on the Ministry of Health to review all the needs of public health facilities in Selangor comprehensively, including the long waiting period for patients to seek treatment from medical experts.
