Airbus To Invest In Third Helicopter Simulator In Subang

Aircraft manufacturer Airbus plans to invest in its third helicopter flight simulator in Subang, Selangor, with operations expected to begin by 2026.

Malaysia’s Chief Representative, Burhanudin Noordin Ali said the simulator will be used for the H175 helicopter.

Currently there are two simulators for the H225 and AS365 helicopters, said Burhanudin Noordin to the media in conjunction with the Defense Services Asia (DSA) and National Security Exhibition (NATSEC) Asia 2024 today.

The Airbus Helicopters Malaysia Simulation Center, a joint venture with Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation is located in Subang.

President of Airbus Asia-Pacific, Anand Stanley said the H225M will be the highlight of this year’s DSA and NATSEC.

The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) is one of the global operators of the H225M. A total of 12 H225M are in RMAF service for military and humanitarian functions.

“We want to ensure that Malaysia continues to have access to the most advanced and best-in-class products from Airbus,” he said.

Airbus through a statement today confirmed that Malaysia is an important market for military, defense and space business helicopters in addition to expressing its commitment to strengthen the aerospace firm’s presence here.

“Airbus has developed extensive and strong industry collaborations that have brought many benefits to the local economy,” he said, adding that it would like to deepen existing partnerships and investments in the domestic ecosystem. It also looks at potential regional demand for increased capabilities including upgrades in military transport.

“We are well positioned to offer Malaysia a robust A400M-C295 combined fleet to support the country’s strategic and tactical needs,” the statement said.

Airbus currently has over 800 staff in Malaysia and supports over 4,000 job opportunities in the domestic supply chain.
