Selangor Collects Highest Revenue Since 2018, Achieves 5% Economic Growth

Selangor recorded the highest revenue collection in six years and also recorded the largest contribution to Malaysia’s GDP, which is 24.8 percent.

State revenue collection in 2022 recorded a figure of RM2.533 billion, exceeding the initial target of RM2.05 billion and higher compared to the collection figure recorded in 2021 which is as much as RM2.284 billion. The state’s economic growth in 2022 recorded a figure of 5.0 percent, surpassing the national economic growth of 3.1 percent. Investment performance for the period from January to September 2022, the State recorded an investment value of RM9.7 billion with 199 approved manufacturing projects. Of this amount, as much as RM3.58 billion is from local investment, and as much as RM6.12 billion is from foreign investment. A total of 11,601 potential job opportunities were successfully created through approved manufacturing projects in Selangor.

The State Government’s initiatives and various incentives under the Integrated Regional Development project in South Selangor (IDRISS), Selangor Maritime Gateway Economic Development Zone (ZPE SMG), Sabak Bernam Development (SABDA), encouraging the opening of new industrial areas with the concept of Managed Industrial Park (MIP), the Selangor Trade Fair (SIBS) and the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS) Exhibition Program are seen to be able to further stimulate investment into the state.
