MBPJ Offering Assessment Tax Rebates For Green Homes

Likely the first city in Malaysia to do so, the Petaling Jaya City Council or MBPJ has announced that it is offering rebates on the 2023 Assessment Tax to owners of green and low-carbon eco-friendly houses in the city.

Under the scheme, the local authority said the maximum rebate that will be given is 100 percent or RM500, whichever is lower for each individual house. “It is open to homeowners who practice a green and sustainable lifestyle based on the criteria of water, biodiversity, waste, transport, and energy,” MBPJ said in a Facebook post.

According to the council, those who are interested can download the application form on the website www.mbpj.gov.my. The application date is open from April 1 until June 30. For further inquiries homeowners can contact the Department of Solid Waste Management and Public Cleaning MBPJ at 03-7954 1440.
