Intercontinental KL Celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival 2023 With Sustainability At The Forefront

Ring in the Mid-Autumn Festival with the right centrepiece for gifting, amongst friends and family alike. InterContinental Kuala Lumpur presents the ‘Moonlit Garden’, with an auspicious assortment of artisanal mooncakes from the award-winning Tao Chinese Cuisine.

In this year’s collection, both the ‘Moonlit Waters’ and ‘Moonlit Blossoms’ boxes are crafted entirely out of natural bamboo. These boxes are adorned with delicate carvings of koi fish; paying homage to the hotel’s very own lush koi garden, as well as cherry blossom motifs; a symbol of hope & renewal, which can be spotted on the illuminated floor-to-ceiling glass panels gracing the entrance to Tao.

At the heart of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ ongoing Journey to Tomorrow initiative, sustainability takes front & centre for 2023’s festivities. “In the midst of the excitement, we must never forget to stay true to our commitment to create a constructive impact on the environment and community at large,” says Meera Raj, General Manager.

The intricate etchings and imagery on the boxes symbolise longevity and a reminder to make responsible choices to celebrate our environment, so that we may share the radiance of not only the moonlit beauty of the occasion, but also the value of environmental friendliness with the generations yet to come.

The Moonlit Garden’s selection, which features the handiwork of Tao’s master dim sum chef, Chef Lo, lies at the intersection of tradition and innovation, with classic favourites as well as original, inventive new takes.

The jewels this year are the Musang King Durian Snow Skin with Oats – made with exquisite and creamy flesh of authentic premium Musang King durian, Baked Almond Purple Sweet Potato Skin with Pandan Paste – an electrifying fusion of diverse flavours, parcelled in a sweet potato-infused skin, rich in natural antioxidants, as well as the crowd favourite, Butterfly Pea Flower Snow Skin with Bird’s Nest and White Lotus Paste – infused with Bird’s Nest of “beauty food” fame, high in collagen for skin rejuvenation.

Fully customisable with your preferred mooncakes, ‘Moonlit Waters’ comes in a 2-piece set , while the ‘Moonlit Blossoms’ set comes with 4 pieces.
