Panerai Pays Homage To Malaysia With Special Edition

Following the opening of the first standalone boutique in Malaysia at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Panerai is proud to present its latest creation, crafted for Malaysia. Limited to 140 pieces only, this special edition timepiece Luminor Malaysia Special Edition (PAM 01957) bears details close to the heart of Malaysians and is now available at the Panerai boutique Pavilion Kuala Lumpur .

The new Luminor Malaysia Special Edition features a sandblasted titanium DLC case of 44mm, as well as a bezel and crown protector in titanium DLC. DLC, also known as Diamond-like carbon coating, gives the watch an unmistakable sleek, black look. The overall timepiece benefit of the DLC properties making it better resistant to scratches. Beneath its screwed-down titanium case back lies its beating heart – Panerai’s in-house hand-wound mechanical movement, the P.5000 calibre. For this limited-edition model, the emblematic Luminor sandwich dial has been coloured matt green to evoke feelings of abundance, rejuvenation, and peace. The lush green colour of the dial also pairs with the distinct luminous hour markers and Arabic numerals. On top of the six o’clock position, is an embossing of the Siluro a Lenta Corsa (SLC) – the human torpedo used by the Italian Navy.

On the back of the watch, is a tribute to the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur – an engraving of one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers, as well as Malaysia’s renowned landmark, the KLCC Twin Towers. This is Panerai’s first timepiece created exclusively for Malaysia, with its model number, PAM01957, marking the year Malaysia became an independent nation. The watch is sold with two sets of straps, one in light brown calf leather, and the other made of PET.

At the heart of this latest Luminor Malaysia Special Edition, is the mechanical hand-wound movement, calibre P.5000 calibre. This movement offers an impressive 8-day power reserve and pays homage to those fitted in the watches used in the past. The design of the movement is reflective of the Panerai DNA. One large main plate, brushed and chamfered, covers the gear train, barrels, and the bridge securing the balance wheel. Its variable inertia balance oscillates at a frequency of 21,600vph, and the use of twin barrels provides efficient delivery of energy for the lengthy 8-days (192 hours) power reserve.

The last time an exclusive edition was made for the region, was the PAM1177 Panerai Luminor GMT ION Singapore Edition, launched in 2020 to mark the re-opening of Panerai’s flagship boutique at ION Orchard.

The limited series Panerai Luminor Malaysia Special Edition is available at Malaysia Panerai Pavilion Kuala Lumpur Boutique and selected retailer partner Swiss Watch Gallery boutiques.
