Perikatan Nasional (PN) managed to win 19 seats in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) compared to 36 contested seats in Kedah, thus having a majority of over 50 percent to form the government.
The matter was announced by the Chairman of the Election Commission (EC), Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh through a special press conference in Putrajaya earlier.
“For the entire voting up to 10.20pm, PN won 19 seats out of the 36 allocated and managed to obtain a majority of over 50 percent.
Sanusi, of Perikatan Nasional, retained Jeneri with more than 16,000 votes going his way.
Today, a total of 9,674,456 voters will decide whether the existing government for six states will change or remain by making an election on 570 candidates competing in the PRN this time.
Out of the total number of 9.7 million voters in this PRN, the category of young voters aged between 18 and 29 years old recorded the highest number of 2,831,025 voters.
