Khazanah, Mara To Develop Two Hangars In Subang Airport

Khazanah Nasional Bhd’s wholly-owned unit Impeccable Vintage Properties Sdn Bhd (IVP) has inked a memorandum of understanding with Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) to develop two aircraft hangars spanning 2.8 hectares.

IVP chief executive officer Mohd Fuad Sharuji said the collaboration is expected to boost the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) industry at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (LTSAAS) in Subang.

“The total area of IVP’s land is 40 hectares, but there is a 1.6-hectare piece of unused land bordering the land owned by Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), which is a Mara unit.

“UniKL owns approximately 1.2 hectares, and if combined, it will become 2.8 hectares, which can be used for hangar development,” he said.

At the same event, IVP also inked a collaboration with Malaysia Aviation Group Bhd (MAG), parent of Malaysia Airlines, for the operation of a hangar on 2.04 hectares as an MRO centre at the LTSAAS.

“This collaboration gives MAG the opportunity to set up a maintenance hangar at the LTSAAS in addition to its two hangars at Kuala Lumpur International Airport,” he said.

Also present at the signing of the two deals were Selangor Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee chairman Ng Sze Han and Invest Selangor Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris.

SAS 2023, being held until tomorrow, showcases nearly 50 static aircraft and features 119 exhibitors from six countries — the United States, Australia, France, Denmark, Singapore and Hong Kong.
