Balai Raya Pulau Besar became the first polling centre to close in the Johor state election on Saturday, after all 32 registered voters completed casting their ballots.
Tenggaroh state constituency returning officer Jamil Hasni Abdullah said the centre, which operated with a single polling stream, closed at 11 am.
He added that two other island polling centres under the constituency — Balai Raya Pulau Aur and Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Pulau Pemanggil — closed at noon. Meanwhile, Balai Raya Pulau Sibu and SK Pulau Tinggi were scheduled to end voting at 2 pm.
The five island polling centres in the constituency serve a combined total of 690 registered voters.
As of 1 pm, the Election Commission reported that 42.16 per cent of voters had cast their ballots, with 1,130,980 out of more than 2.6 million registered voters having voted.
Voting at other polling centres nationwide will continue until 6 pm.
